Review of Two Brothers (2004) by Ow H — 21 Dec 2010
A film which deals with allot of the theme "live and let live".
Two Brothers is a satisfying tale of two wild orphaned tigers that become separated when both are introduced into human society. Set in 1920's French Indochina the two tigers are brought up in two completely different lifestyles settings. One tiger (later named Kumal) is bought by a circus act, and the other (later named Sangha) is taken in by a boy and his family later to be taken away because of an incident. The plot reminds you of like a live action "Bambi" or "Born Free".
After seeing the film you can see the extensive effort that went into training the animals to successfully guide the film, since there is little animation of the tigers, and allot of difficult acts for an animals to accomplish.
Two Brothers shows the difficulty working with animals on set, but also illustrates that this complicated labour can produce a great film.
