Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Jenn C — 11 Feb 2010
While it doesn't necessarily satiate unanswered questions die-hard fans of the television series had, or retains much spirit of the show and jettisoning much of the cast in favor of focusing on the cruel little story of the show's focus, the death of Laura Palmer, it does offer many other surprises. For one thing, it's a very powerful character study on the part of Lynch, cataloguing every single day of misery the title character endures, made equally powerful by the courageous performance of it's lead actress Sheryl Lee, who isn't new to this kind of character (see 'Bliss' if you disagree).
As for an entry in Lynch's work, it's one of Lynch's most audacious, daring, deeply felt, and passionate of all his films. It's a shame that the rest of the general public felt so alienated by it that it took years for people to see it for what it really is.
