Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Paul J — 09 Apr 2010
Lynch shocked TV audiences in the 80s with his genius Twin Peaks series. The final chapter is a bizarre and frightening journey that attempts to answer the riddle of Laura Palmer. This dark subject matter has plenty of twisted and classic Lynch moments (gotta love David Bowie) and the first half in particular is quirky and classic Twin Peaks.
In typical Lynch fashion, it's the second half that descends into more taxing territory. They put Palmer through the ringer (a very demanding role) and we quickly realize that this film is a desperate cry-out for daughters who are victims to their fathers.
There's nothing funny about this tragedy. Instead, we close with a requiem.
