Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Andrew C — 13 Apr 2010
Takes a while to get going (and such things as newly-created FBI characters and Lil the mime only slow it down), but the contrast between the opening scenes in unfriendly Deer Meadow and the pleasant Twin Peaks really make the descent into the nightmarish underbelly all the more poignant.
Other than Lynch's trademarks, this film really belongs to Sheryl Lee - her unflinching ability to follow Laura Palmer's mood swings and character shifts during the final week of her life is the highlight of this dark and disturbing movie.
