Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Marc M — 02 Aug 2012
David Lynch strips away any confines of television and delivers a very avant-garde look at the dark last days of a girl lost in her own hell. Many may see this as a messy, bizarre and overlong exercise in lynchian weirdness and I won't disagree.
Except for the fact that David Lynch is one of cinema's great auteurs and has an incredible vision. Being a fan of both Lynch and the series (despite a silly and lackluster second season), I found it a compelling and deeply sad look at self destructive behavior and teen angst gone awry.
There are very dark themes and many odd moments that create unease and tension which are palpable. It's a toure-de force of wild, weird, sensual macabre.
