Review of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) by Kim B — 02 Sep 2012
I can see y ppl either love or hate this movie, to be honest it was either brilliant or retarded. It was like being trapped in a rural suburb nightmare for 2 1/2 hours, after awhile your getting sick of dreaming n start to wonder wth is the point.
The movie was disjointed and convoluted with too many ideas, subplots, n characters and believe it or not this was the slimmed down version. It was like Beverly hills 90210 meets eyes wide shut meets Steven king meets a bad acid trip.
It was definitely unique and some of the dream sequences were awesome. I also really enjoyed the sound and artistic effects that lent an overall creepy, sadistic, n depressing feel to the movie. I also liked that the taboo subject of incest was discussed, but it could have been a hell of alot better with all that creativity.
For starters that whole subplot with the detective in the beginning seemed unnecessary, some characters like her friend in the cabin who the hell was that, the bf soap opera drama ughh. Some of the script n acting was a bit overboard- the turkey comment and palmers hysterics.
It should've focused more on Palmer and explaining some of the plot. Of course Bowie would be in this movie that doesnt make sense and he would still be the engima in the movie. I hope the series was better.
