Review of Twin Falls Idaho (1999) by Rachel G — 26 Aug 2007
Twin Falls Idaho is a highly-stylized portrayal of a budding romance between an ex-prostitute and one of two conjoined twins. The Polish brothers have a great sense of mise-en-scene. with each scene and setting seeming to have its own distinctive style and tone.
And the film's color palette is so skillfully maniuplated that it's almost unnerving. "Twin Falls" looks so good, that one can't help but feel that dialogue was just an afterthought.
While the script certainly had many good points, there were also points were it bogged down in sentimentality. In addition, the plot managed to be rather predictable--and you don't except from a film that tells such an unusual story.
