Review of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) by Paul G — 12 Nov 2007
A true weirdo this one! Four directors, one of them Spielberg - who directs the soppiest piece of dirge ever committed to celluloid - present four stories from the TV show. The last two (one of them involving a gremlin on the wing of a plane) are by far the best.
John Landis' segment is marred by the horrific real-life death of an actor, and in fact, the whole film is haunted as a result. Spielberg apparently was due to direct a real show-stopping story, but the death knocked the wind out of his sails and he promptly lost heart in the project.
It shows in the finished product.
