Review of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) by Brett L — 25 Feb 2008
Too many people give this movie a hard time. I loved it when I was younger. The first segment is okay. It's too short really, but understandably so since Vic Morrow died during the filming. The second segment is really touching.
It's so sad at the end when the old man begs for the boy to take him with him. The third segment with the kid who's abusing his powers is awesomely freaky. The cartoon creatures are so amazing - it's a great example of how practical effects can be so much more terrifying than anything that could be created using CGI.
And of course the final segment is my absolute favorite. The shots of the gremlin on the wing of the plane look so perfect and are sooo creepy! John Lithgow is fantastic. I also love how the whole movie is book-ended with Dan Akyroyd's "Wanna see something really scary?".
