Review of Twilight of the Ice Nymphs (1997) by Aerick D — 23 Jul 2007
Looks absolutely like nothing else, yet is eerily familiar. Like the other Maddin films I've seen, the disconnected acting and dubbed dialogue give it the feeling of some lost foreign film, yet it's so weird and unfamiliar.
Weirder still, there's a vaguely campy sense of humor. Some beautiful imagery, but this didn't work quite as well for me as the other Maddin films I've seen. Definitely unique.
