Review of Twilight (1994) by Aimee M — 19 May 2015
Let's start off positive, okay?
The ending was spectacular. The induced fear of the vampires, which increases and builds up as the franchise goes on, is incredible and wonder, and I love it. The showdown between Bella and James (or should I say Edward and James) is a bit corny, but there's a bit of good acting here and there.
This movie is better than New Moon, but not by much, and only because Bella doesn't exempt any suicidal impulses throughout. Stephanie Meyer's books are average. But the movies are a terrible representation of the Twilight series. The characters are undeveloped and sallow. Movie Bella does not properly represent book Bella. Edward's lines, though perceived as cleverly coquettish and romantic by some, are corny and a bit creepy. The plot was dull, too. The setting is a mundane highschool, and some rainy town in Washington state. It takes places sometime within the century.
The plot and characters are dull and annoying. With some occasional good scenes, Twilight was an immense disappointment. It's very overrated.
