Review of Twentieth Century (1934) by Jaye G — 16 Nov 2008
To enjoy a screwball comedy, you have to like at least one of the main characters. John Barrymore's overacted, Machiavellian director is insufferable, and Carol Lombard's initially weak and dull faux-movie-star is annoying.
I chuckled a couple times but was sorely disappointed. If you want to witness Howard Hawks' true brilliance, watch His Girl Friday instead!
