Review of Twelve Monkeys (1995) by E L — 25 Jul 2012
Gilliam's mind bender of a sci-fi thriller hasn't aged a bit, and is still just as fun and elusive as it was upon it's premiere. The average viewer might find themself occasionally getting lost due to the film's dense nature, but the payoff more than makes up for it with 12 Monkeys' fascinating twists and designs.
It's also very entertaining to see Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt play roles that are so opposed to their typical typecast, no less do great work with them. One of Gilliam's best, as well as one of only a handful of science fiction films from the 90s that could be called great.
