I LOVE this movie! There is such a touching simplicity & realism to it - proving you don't need to pump up the drama to create drama. Less is more. The scene in which Tuya rescues her son is beautiful .
Only the 4th Chinese film to win the Golden Bear. And why not? Asia is the breeding ground for some of the best films ever made - it's a pity & an irony few audiences in Asia care enough to watch them.
