Review of Tusk (2014) by Jon C — 20 Sep 2014
Disturbing, grotesque, nerve-wracking and quite funny.
Kevin Smith has been absent in the filmmaking business for a while and now he tackles a project trying to mix horror and laughs.
For the most part he succeeds.
And he gets some really strong performances from both Justin Long and Michaels Parks.
And the big philosophical question does ring throughout the psychotically-deranged ordeal: is man the more dangerous animal?
Genesis Rodriguez also has a good mantra near the final scene: 'it's okay to cry, it's what separates us from the animals'.
If you're lucky you probably wont walk away having nightmares afterwards.
This is along the lines of 'Human Centipede' if that can be said freely.
Kevin Smith has one thing going for him at this point; it's definitely gonna have people talking.
