Review of Tusk (2014) by Blake E — 04 Nov 2014
Man, oh man. I've been waiting to see this for quite sometime and I didn't have a clue what to expect really. But whatever it was I witness, I was not disappointed. The image of Justin Long when we first see him as a walrus was absolutely terrifying and jaw dropping to say the least.
My mouth was wide open for a solid 10 minutes wondering how someone could create something so horrible, yet so intriguing. It only kicked after a little while that this film is actually quite sad, a man being turned into a walrus with no way of returning to his original human form.
It's not the happiest of films, but it's definitely one that'll stick with ya for as long as you live. I smell cult classic! And also Johnny Depp as Guy LaPointe was absolutely hilarious and provided a very nice shift in tone for the (beautiful) horribleness that came just before his arrival.
