Review of Tusk (2014) by Mima M — 28 Jan 2015
I understand why some people feel this movie's premise is horrible. I side with you- were I on Twitter, I would have said walrus no. But I would have been wrong.
Honestly, between this and Red State, I think Kevin Smith has found a whole new voice for himself. He has a really deft hand with the absurd that I never would have expected, but maybe should have (see: Chasing Amy). I don't know how he manages to sew Justin Long into a walrus suit without it feeling like shock jocking, but he does. It's more of a thorough steeping, and you walk away with feelings and opinions about shit you weren't aware were under discussion. Very few people could have made this not stupid. I'm actually surprised there's even one.
