Review of Tusk (2014) by Cade H — 11 Jul 2015
I always enjoy Kevin Smith films and while Tusk was not great, it was enjoyable enough to make it worth the watch for any of his fans. The main character played by Justin Long gets drugged and help captive by a maniac and as bizarre as it seems, he attempts to turn him into a walrus.
Yep, its as crazy as it sounds and there is a lot in this movie that is just strange. I expected a lot of blood and gore and nasty scenes, but there was none of it, just some insane moments involving dialogue and walrus related things.
I was a little underwhelmed with how the story developed and what actually happens but the plot was interesting and the performances were good. There is still a bit of that Kevin Smith humor in this but most of it is rather serious and dark and at times it got a little dull.
While it does contain enjoyable moments, overall it was a little thin and the ending was not the best. Kevin Smith comedy lovers may not find much to enjoy in this tale of his.
