Review of Tusk (2014) by David S — 03 Aug 2015
Yesterday, I reviewed Tusk by simply saying "Well that was stupid." And it was. But that's not a review. So let's be fair and talk about why it was so stupid. 1. The move is SO,SO,SO incredibly fake.
That could not EVER happen. No, I'm not talking about the whole turning a human into a walrus thing, that's conceivably possible. I'm talking about Genesis Rodriguez hooking up with Haley Joel Osment.
2. So what, Justin Long was a dick. I hated his character. For this role, we should have had a character we rooted for and cried for. Like Long's Jeepers Creepers role. We were saddened by his fate then, laughed now.
3. Kevin Smith does comedy great, and he does action very well (Red State). When he mixes the two (Cop Out, Tusk), it doesn't work (I'm one of the minority that was okay with Cop Out, but even he admits.
..). It could have been a good, eerie horror movie. Alas, it was instead what we got. So, in summation, Well that was stupid.
