Review of Tusk (2014) by Jacob L — 11 Mar 2017
Kevin Smith the genius behind the classic film "Clerks" has hit a homerun with tusk. The movie Involves a pod caster who visits a guy in his Canadian home only to find out he is a serial killer hell bent on deforming his victims into crude human walruses.
Although this film has a mixed bag of ratings mostly negative, many people are not taking into consideration that this is a Horror/Comedy based off a surreal job offer hoax in the paper. And I think Smith has succeeded in making this not only funny but also unnerving, in fact, I get a whole nostalgic 50's B movie vibe from it which is always welcome.
This film probably isn't doing so well because it's something completely new and original, and today's audiences want cliché after cliché. And this is what I admire about Mr. Kevin Smith, he isn't afraid to take chances and create scenarios that might be considered taboo and actually has fun in what he does, and this fun is reflected on to me which is why I give this a 5/5.
