Review of Tusk (2014) by Casey M — 14 Feb 2015
Kevin Smith' new movie Tusk is everything the reviews are saying it is: ridiculous, disturbing, uneven, hilarious, and disgusting. I laughed out loud involuntarily, as did many people in the audience, at the shocking visual effects, In Tusk, Smith goes all in on his audacious plot, and his commitment to unsettle never wavers.
At the San Diego Comic-Con in July, Smith promised the audience that he was going 'full walrus', and he delivers. Guy Lapointe is a newcomer to watch out for, he steals his scene's, even if watching him perform sometimes pulled me out of the story.
The end result is not a great movie, but it's good (and bad) enough that over time it should earn cult classic status among Smiths fans and genre enthusiasts alike.
