Review of Tusk (2014) by Alberto A — 23 Sep 2014
Tusk is the industry of "cool" talking all over again. I don't care if it's cool that this movie was made because of a podcast. I don't care if it's cool that people tweeted that this movie should be made. And I don't care if it's cool to do a movie about a crazy guy who abducts someone and turns him into a walrus. Yeah, that's basically IT. That's Tusk. This types of movies, in my opinion, are polluting the cinema medium. Film is supposed to be art. Tusk is not art. It drowns in its own ridiculousness. That's why I think this movie shouldn't even exist.
Furthermore, Tusk lacks coherent and realistic psychological character motives. Not just out of the blue a guy is obsessed with a walrus and then tries to turn humans into it. The reason the character gives is extremely weak. This is bad, I can't believe there are people winning money for doing this. Although Johnny Depp does a great performance, he is the only one that's funny. The only star in the review is for Depp.
