Review of Turner & Hooch (1989) by Robert H — 19 Jan 2013
A buddy comedy between a cop and a dog that while having very little actual story, is entertaining all the same. Watching Tom Hanks essentially talk to a dog the entire film (meaning acting by himself) slows down the film a tad but Hooch is absolutely hilarious in the way only dogs can be.
I really would have liked more plot development as the film doesn't tend to know what it wants to be. Action comedy? Buddy comedy? romcom? animal comedy? cop comedy? It essentially tried to do a few too many things to be perfect but did them all well enough to still be enjoyable without completely derailing things.
Turner & Hooch is a very good comedy that is often forgotten.
