Review of Turistas (2006) by Peter K — 12 Jun 2010
What were they thinking showing the villains early on? I love the mystery of a horror flick even if everything is not explained. The plot is simple enough. Not a movie for those who want to visit Brazil without a armed group of security guards.
I am freaked out about the developments to the point that I would never go to Brazil's Olympic games even if I could do so for free. Sorry, Brazil. Putting a common face on a villain is so twisted.
I watched this movie mostly because of the girl's face in the commercial. She was a compelling Siren much like a Mona Lisa. Frankly, the movie underperformed and was not scary enough. The horror is how normal-looking people can murder.
The murder scene is so calm yet freaky that one gets lost in the wonder of it all.
