Review of Turistas (2006) by Kyle L — 09 Mar 2011
Director John Stockwell has finally come up with another good film after his other film Into The Blue. Turistas is a really good horror suspense/thriller with enough scares and a very chilling atmosphere and of course a lot of beautiful locations.
The film is all about a group of college backpackers on vacation travelling through bus. When the bus suddenly crashed the group is now stuck in a remote Brazilian Jungle where they are hunted down by a radical military gang and they must escape before they get picked of one by one by the military gang.
Turistas is a dark horror, suspense, thriller filled with lots of creepiness, scares and gore. The film itself is slightly different from other horror films like Hostel and Saw. One of the best things about this film is that the entire film is incredibly unsettling and relentless.
The camera work was really well made and there are also some scary moments as well. The violence was incredibly disgusting and unnerving. The entire film has a really creepy soundtrack also. The whole tone of the film is incredibly frightening, unsettling and relentless.
The acting was also good. Josh Duhamel, Melissa George and Olivia Wilde were really good with their performances towards the entire film. The lead bad guy was also good in acting his performance isn't that scary but he knows how to act in movies so far.
Overall I would give this film an 8/10 because the film itself is really creepy, unsettling and unnerving and the violence was also good and the acting was also good as well.
