Review of Turbo Kid (2015) by Carlos M — 06 Aug 2016
While we're all hyped up on "Stranger Things" 80s film emulation, here's a good example of when the style doesn't work. Turbo Kid is an intentionally made B movie that falls flat without any sort of wit or imagination. It's literally every 80s post apocalyptic film mashed into one but has no real substance or purpose.
The gore is excessive and way over the top, and I get that alot of those old film were, but not like this, it seems forced a really detracts from any decency the film could of had. There's a scene where one of the baddies gets stacked with a torso from a guy and the legs of another and wonders around the battle aimlessly for a good long while, it's supposed to be silly I suppose but it's just comes off as juvenile and dumb.
