Review of Turbo Kid (2015) by Tim M — 15 Oct 2016
'Turbo Kid' is a post apocalyptic (1997) comedy/adventure/thriller that does well to hit all the notes. The 80s style music and the cartoonish villain nature may seem like a potential kids movie, but don't be fooled this has more blood than most Tarantino flicks.
Michael Ironside plays Zeus, the villain, and is fantastic. A veteran, Ironside, is funny and demented in his role. Munro Chambers plays the hero, Turbo Kid. Despite being 23 when the movie was filmed he looks the a teenager.
The vision of this is engrossing, but it's hard to pin down who deserves the credit. A trio of directors and the same trio wrote the screenplay. It's a fantastic hidden gem that is not for the weak at heart. Who doesn't enjoy a love story between a human and a robot?
