Review of Turbo (2013) by Nizar E — 06 Dec 2013
I appreciate that "David Soren"'s idea is crazy and surprising, but in the second half of this thriller it becomes an unoriginal copy of "Fast and Furious" or "Cars" with "The Tortoise and the Hare" to "Monsters University", that entirely reduced the excitement.
"Theo or Turbo" (voice of Ryan Reynolds) the ambitious garden snail which dreams to be a race car, after some strange accident become a super hero (something like Spider Man!) and the mere accident leads his brother "Chet" (Voice of Paul Giamatti) to a "Tito" (Voice of Michael Peña) boy fond of snail races, who believe in the super power of "Turbo" and take him to race the real cars in the Indianapolis 500.
The story is so innocent, it begins great then vulgar with a known lesson about insisting to achieve the dreams, as "No limits on spirits" & "No dream is too big, and no dreamer is too small". I guess Paul Giamatti & Samuel L. Jackson voices are completely remarkable and nice. Movements, colors are brilliant, well-done for Dreamworks in this animation. In the other hand, I don't feel satisfied about songs.
As it is predictable and not heart breaking I think kids will enjoy this film.
