Review of Turbo (2013) by Movie K — 30 Jun 2016

Quite good animation. Unique story. Ryan Reynolds is Turbo, a normal garden snail that is obsess with fast racing car. His brother Paul Giamatti (Chet) is more uptight and always cover Turbo mishap. As garden snails they have fear against crows and a human kid who likes to crush snail with his bicycle.

Turbo got too far away one night and end up inside a street race car exhaust. After submerging inside the nitrous juice, he became fast like a car. Turbo use his speed to save Chet from hungry crows. They were pick up by Michael Peña (Tito) who use snails to race bet with his other friends.

Michael is astonish by its speed and plan to use it as attraction to their sleepy stop over. His brother Luis Guzmán (Angelo) don't like his crazy idea. Tito need money to register Turbo into the Indy 500 race.

The snail race crew consist of manager Samuel L. Jackson (Whiplash) and 4 other snails do something to the tour bus to force the people alight and spend money. But it is still not enough. The rest of the friends decide to support Tito crazy idea.

Traveling all the way there, they were barred from entering the snail for the race. Turbo show off his speed at the test track and impress everyone. Turbo became an internet sensation. The CEO of the race also don't allow the snail to compete.

The defending champion Bill Hader (Guy Gagné) decide to let Turbo join in order to raise his own profile. At the race day, Turbo is taken aback in the track. But after a pep talk by Whiplash, Turbo race like a "snail" instead of a car, agile and fast.

During last few round, he was force by Guy to the corner and suffer cuts to its shell, disrupting his turbo power. When Tito is gonna give up, Turbo continue the race. Almost at the end line, there is a major crash.

Turbo lost his power and he snuck into his shell. Chet venture out bravely in order to encourage Turbo. Guy want to win even if it mean he has to pull his car. Turbo use the "tuck and roll" to go through the line when Guy attempt to stomp.

Turbo win the race and brought prosperity to Tito and gang. Business grow well for their stop over.
