Review of Tupac: Resurrection (2003) by Levi J — 07 Jun 2009
Prior to watching this I liked Tupac, and had respect for him. Now, I think he was a hypocrite. He points out all of the things that are wrong with society, but makes no attempt to change them. Rapping about them, and pointing them out do not solve them. A great example: Tupac takes the time to point out that President Reagan lived in the White House, which had a lot of rooms, but made no effort to invite homeless people to stay with him. I missed the part where Tupac said he invited homeless people into his home on a regular basis.
This documentary spends way too much time discussing gossip, and weak political ideologies, and not enough time telling the viewer why Tupac was a solider of change. At times Tupac sounded like his heart was in the right place, but too often he takes the easy way out and screams racism.
