Review of Tum Mile (2009) by Alimuzzaman A — 28 Nov 2009
It was a good entertainer. Emraan Hashmi was great, as usual. Soha Ali Khan was absolutely her usual irritating self in the first half of the movie, but as it progressed, her performance improved. The relationship aspect of the movie was very natural and realistic. The problems this couple had coming up in their relationship and the self-created distance between them.....it was all something that is relatable to anyone who understands human nature and who has gone through any sort of argument with a significant other.
The Mumbai floods were advertised as being the story for the film - this is not true. It only provides the backdrop for the love story. So if you are interested in this film for the Monsoon aspect, lower your expectations, because the actual storyline is a love story.
The songs were great and nicely placed....barring "Tum Mile," which is a great song, but was placed in such a way where you felt "Uh, isn't this all happening a little too fast?" "Tu Hi Haqeeqat" and "O Meri Jaan" were very nicely picturized. "Dil Ibaadat" came at a very important part in the film, so it made the greatest impact.
The movie is definitely flawed - the greatest flaw coming in the form of the lead actress. But it's still a worthwhile watch. I enjoyed it.
