Ok, this is clearly a movie that will appeal to some and not others. It has great period sets, there are a number of plot points, which I liked as texture. Mostly drama, with some humor, even farcical, almost operatic like scenes.
I almost did not go, but my friend really wanted to see this based on seeing a preview. I am very glad to have seen it and recommend it highly if you enjoy period pieces with dense plotting. A lot goes on in this Tulip Fever! I was never bored and my friend and I spoke about it afterwards for quite awhile.
It was a good date movie.
