Review of Tulip Fever (2017) by Erika F — 02 Sep 2017
Why is this getting such a low rating? It's witty, beautiful and full of Shakespearean themes and comedic thumb biting. The cinematography is gorgeous--any fan of the Flemish painters will adore scene after scene reminiscent of the great Dutch masters.
The story itself has the zany appeal of All's Well that Ends Well; the characters drawn with a deft hand (Tom Stoppard, no less). With the talents of heavy hitters like Christopher Waltz, Alicia Vikander and Cara Delevigne, this film delivers what it promises.
I promise: if you see it you will love it.
