Review of Tucker: The Man and His Dream (1988) by Jack Y — 12 Jul 2007
Fabulous story about the American Dream and how the establishment sought to crush an entrepreneurshowing that America does not always welcome innovators in mature industries run by fat cats, and that this behaviour is not novel to our time.
Bridges gives an optimistic portrayal as the lead, perhaps more so than the real man. Car nuts will love the real Tucker cars that appear, especially toward the end, and how they contrasted the dull same-again vehicles of the Big Three.
In some ways, the later Worlds Fastest Indian is reminiscent of this filman authentic-looking production about one man and his dream versus every obstacle thrown at him.
