Review of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) by Drlowdon — 08 Jun 2013
There has been no shortage of movies about folk on a camping trip running into trouble with bloodthirsty locals and so the genre is certainly ripe for parody. Fortunately Dale and Tucker Vs Evil avoids the lazy use of pop culture references and crude jokes found in the Scary Movie franchise instead choosing to turn things completely on their head.
Far from being crazed killers the hillbillies are actually just nice guys on a fishing trip that find themselves caught up with a bunch of stupid and rather clumsy college kids. This central conceit gives the movie a lot of momentum allowing for a number of laugh out loud moments and even when the pace does drag slightly the two likable leads, Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine of Firefly and Reaper fame, ensure proceedings are entertaining.
