Review of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) by David S — 18 Apr 2013
A landmark in the comedy horror genre. It's many things at once. It's a multi-layered spoof of the highest calibre, a compassionate treatise on the fear of fear, misunderstandings and perceptions, and it's a carefully and tastefully executed farce, mixing black humour and slapstick with moments of gentle and sincere drama.
But above all, Tucker & Dale vs Evil is an authoritative clichà (C) slasher of the most sophisticated kind. I would not compare this to Shaun of the Dead, which was stylish and hip. Tucker and Dale are way cooler than that.
And I mean this in the most serious way.
