Review of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (2010) by Stuart R — 16 Jul 2013
From the very first moment when we're introduced to the kids, I was hooked on Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. The story follows a group of college kids who journey up to the woods for a weekend getaway. Suddenly, when they realize that two men have kidnapped their friend, Allison, they try their best to get her back.
What they DON'T know is that these men are named Tucker and Dale who have rented a cabin for a weekend of fun as well. When they realize that this girl, Allison, has fallen and hit her head, they try to get her friends to come over and help.
When they run away frightened, they take her back to their house to nurse her back to health. As more and more misunderstandings occur, the college kids fall one by one at their own hand. The less you know about Tucker and Dale vs.
Evil, the better. This is a film that you absolutely CAN NOT watch the trailer for because you don't want to know how the story goes. The way the plot unfolds, while starting out as a standard horror flick, turns the film into a hysterical satire on the horror genre.
Every time something new happened that would be common in the horror genre comes off as hilarious in this film, especially the deaths of the kids. The characters of Tucker and Dale are extremely likeable from the start and will have you rooting for them the whole entire time.
The man who plays as Dale in this film does an excellent job of making his character loveable and hysterically funny at the same time. While the acting isn't perfect among the kids, I can't help but feel that this was intentional given that this is a riff of horror movies.
I wish that I could say more about this great film, but I don't want to spoil what happens, and trust me a lot happens. See Tucker and Dale vs. Evil as soon as possible! It's a terrific film that will warm your hearts, make you laugh out loud, and at times make you jump! It's just that good!
