Review of Tuck Everlasting (2002) by Erik G — 25 Jan 2012
'Tuck Everlasting' is one timeless tale that was worth viewing - so dramatic and so sad, too. I'll never forget its story: Young Winnie Foster, stifled by the formality of her proper life and domineering mother, escapes into the woods and gets lost. That was when she meets Jesse Tuck - a boy full of life and adventure who's unlike anyone she's ever met - and falls in love. While meeting the kind and generous Tuck family, Winnie learns of their secret to an everlasting life through a magical spring. She must either choose to live life normally or drink from the spring. And so comes the subplot mention to immortality - how interesting is that! Jesse appeared to be youthful but was actually of old age. I know it's impossible to be 17 permanently and therefore never see your elderly years - and I see that as a little problem for the story.
Based on the book by Natalie Babbitt, 'Tuck Everlasting' was directed by Jay Russell. The good acting performances are from the following cast:
1.) Alexis Bledel (Winnie Foster).
2.) Ben Kingsley (Man in the Yellow Suit).
3.) Sissy Spacek (Mae Tuck).
4.) Jonathan Jackson (Jesse Tuck).
5.) Scott Bairstow (Miles Tuck).
6.) William Hurt (Angus Tuck).
Watching 'Tuck Everlasting' wasn't so bad or boring at all to me, although I almost fell asleep in a few scenes and remained awake. Somewhere out in the world there's got to be some sort of a Fountain of Youth waiting for me.
