Review of TT3D: Closer to the Edge (2011) by Roland S — 02 Apr 2012
I really enjoyed this movie. Funny thing is that this starts off like some kind of spoof mockumentary. The main guy Guy Martin is some kind of maverick Wolverine loner/lego geek with a penchant for riding fast bikes and self-abuse whilst holed up in his minivan.
He's like the biker equivalent of Alex Higgins. Then we come to understand, in thrilling POV footage, what he is on about. The bikes, the speed, the lethal circuit, the spectacular crashes and the very real and frequent deaths.
This is old school motor racing. This is like what Formula 1 used to be - high speed racing on the edge of death. The interviewees are so philosophical and matter of fact about the guys that didn't make it.
If F1 ran the same risks as these guys, Schumacher would not be here to embarrass himself. You always thought it would have a fairy tale ending...
