Review of Tsotsi (2005) by Stuart K — 16 Aug 2009
2005 Academy Award Winner for Foreign language film. Chweneyagae and Pheto are excellent as is rest of cast. Not a happy story, with a well chosen ending. Tsotsi means thug, so a good movie for some of my students to see, as they envision themselves as this character.
A dramatic movie for families with babies. Violence, redemption, exploitation, disability in a physical and emotional context. Not a date movie.
