Review of Trumbo (2015) by Amilcar A — 30 Nov 2015
I've always found it amazing how Americans need to fear something. We always need an enemy of some sort. It feeds our ambitions, our paranoias and to a large degree our defects.
Trumbo is a pretty good movie about the blacklisting of Hollywood actors, writers, directors and so forth during the absurd communist witch hunts during the 1950's.
This period is not only an embarrassment to America but to everything we stand for. Whether we disliked the principles of communism or not should not have made it illegal and it certainly should not have made persecution something tolerable and condoned.
As a movie, Trumbo is not bad but it's excessively long and at times a bit too bring. Given the subject it could have been a lot better.
