Review of Trumbo (2015) by Rostek P — 28 Dec 2015
There are so many fine little details in Bryan Cranston's performance but as a whole it's terrible, especially in the early scenes. The script is great fun but unoriginal in its approach. The supporting cast is pretty strong, especially the lovely Diane Lane in a thankless role she infuses with warmth and intelligence and Michael Stuhlbarg who's terrific as Edward G.
Robinson. And yes, Mirren is a terrific actor but her performance here is nothing more than a tasteless cliche and she falls to go beyond that.
