Review of Trumbo (2015) by Laura P — 01 Jan 2016
"Trumbo" is a history lesson disguised as an entertaining dramedy. Bryan Cranston stars as the infamous writer Dalton Trumbo, who was blacklisted in the late 1940s. I learned a lot about how blacklisting supposed Communists greatly affected the entertainment industry. Cranston shines in each scene, similar to his role on " Breaking Bad." Cranston emanates Trumbo, and ultimately, becomes him. If anything, "Trumbo" taught me that Kirk Douglas is awesome, and Hedda Hopper (played brilliantly by Helen Mirren) was a giant c-word.
