Review of Trumbo (2015) by Daniel G — 26 Feb 2016
While a little dry at times, this biopic chronicling embattled screenwriter Dalton Trumbo's life as a member of the Hollywood Blacklist and the dark era of United States history that birthed it pulls no punches.
Bryan Cranston shines while embodying the acerbic quest for freedom of expression and cunning manipulation of the Hollywood system that made Trumbo a folk hero in the first place. In a time when civil liberties are once again sacrificed in the name of the greater public good, we would do well to listen to the lessons of the past, and this movie tells us exactly why.
