Review of Trumbo (2015) by D G — 03 Dec 2015
An interesting film with a charasmatic performance from Bryan Cranston focusing on one of the most successful writters of the forties through the sixties despite being stigmied and fighting totally against being placed on the blacklist with several other writers with similar beliefs and gradually working his way back up on a series of B movies outside the system before stumbling on a winner and winning several Oscar under a psedonym.
Cranston is surrounded by a group of fine actors most from tv including Louis CK and Alan Tudyk, with Mirren, Lane and Fanning filling out the cast. Lacks a slightly more cinematic punch, almost plays slightly like one of the behind the scenes bio pics from HBO back in the early aughts which is not neccesarily a bad thing.
Decent but might be missing a little something I can't put my finger on.
