Review of Trumbo (2007) by Facebook U — 20 Nov 2015
An entertaining, informative biopic about an exceptionally talented screenwriter blacklisted during the Red Scare of the 1950s. The film features a dynamite, award-worthy lead performance by Bryan Cranston, as well as terrific supporting portrayals by John Goodman, Helen Mirren, Michael Stuhlbarg and a host of other players depicting legendary Hollywood icons.
Ironically, though, the film's script leaves something to be desired at times (especially in the first hour), but its many other fine attributes help to cover this shortcoming well. A sumptuous cinematic feast with an important reminder of how important it is to protect our fundamental civic rights and values.
