With a lot of mixed reviews on this one I didn't know what to expect. It's a light hearted tale that's actually quite funny! Trumbo is the tale of Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) a brilliant screen writer that was blacklisted during the red scare because of his ties to the Communist Party.

It goes over his stint in prison for content in court during the congressional hearings to him working as a ghost writer for small cheap films. Eventually leading him to clashing with big names and getting back into Hollywood through the well known film Spartacus.

Cranston moves this film and keeps the pacing going. He's wonderful and he gives a sense of what it is to stand for your freedom. The cast around him is good especially scenes with Louis C.K. as Arlen Hird which are easily the most comedic scenes in the film along with the scenes with John Goodman as Frank King the owner of crap films lol.

Overall, a good performance by Cranston that slows down in pacing during its last half, but it was still a very entertaining watch!
