Review of True Story (2015) by Ginak — 18 Apr 2015
Just when I am in despair that all that’s available in theaters these days are violent car chases and silly superhero movies, I discover a quiet but intense duel between two very fine young actors (Jonah Hill and James Franco) playing a disgraced reporter and a supposed serial killer searching for what exactly “true” is.
The scenes between the two actors are wonderful and are never boring, and the movie only falls down a bit in the end at the accused killer’s trial when reality has to intrude. All the smaller parts are very well-acted from a solid script with smart, unobtrusive direction.
