Review of True Romance (1993) by The-Lords A — 11 Oct 2012
This ended up being kind of a hidden gem for me. I'd heard good things about this movie but never had a chance to watch it. The caliber of acting in this film is ridiculous. There are a bunch of supporting roles that take up no more than 10 minutes of screen time that are played by Oscar nominated actors.
Most importantly, the one scene between Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper. Unreal. It was bizarre and interesting to see a film written but not directed by Tarantino. You can totally see his stamp on it with the writing but it was clearly directed by someone more versed in action films in the late Tony Scott.
It is entertaining all the way through and the best thing I can say about it is there is nothing else quite like it.
