Review of True Romance (1993) by Giovanni M — 14 Nov 2014

A certified classic. This is probably my favorite Tarantino script. I love that most of this film is set in LA, and the intro song to the LA segment is Aerosmith's The Other Side. I also love the main theme for the film (Hans Zimmer does the score back when he was good).

The performances are pitch perfect as well including Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette (who is cute as hell), Gary Oldman (I'd say one of his best roles), Michael Rapaport, Val Kilmer (who is basically Elvis), James Gandolfini (who is at his absolute best here), and Brad Pitt (Who's character is stoned out of his mind throughout the whole film).

This is a very fun film that has a fantastic setting, some great comedic moments, and explodes into an orgy of violence at the end (what a spectacular finale). With a Grade A director in Tony Scott (I'd say this is possibly his best film), and one of the best script writers in Hollywood, True Romance delivers the goods and so much more.

It's a memorable cinematic romp and one of the best action-adventure-comedies you can see.
